Got to be NC Food & Wine Expo



Dozens of North Carolina food companies and wineries will be sampling and selling some of the most
delightful flavors NC has to offer. The Got to be NC Food & Wine Expo will be held in the Expo Building
from 10 am – 8 pm Friday & Saturday, and 10 am – 6 pm Sunday. Admission to the Got to be NC Food & Wine Expo is $2.00 for adults and free for children 11 and under.
Each attendee will receive a sheet of 12 coupons that are good towards many of the delicious products on display at the Expo.

Mason's Pig Jig

More than 40 chapters of Masons will gather for the The 6th Annual Masonic Carolina Pig Jig BBQ Cook-off. Will the Hiram #40 Masonic Lodge win the grand prize once again? Food will be served to the public after judging Saturday morning beginning at 11:00 am. Tickets are $10 and children 6 and under eat free. All proceeds benefit the organization's children's homes in Oxford, NC.

Shriners Fish Fry
May 20th through May 22nd the Amran Shriners will be cooking up calabash style North Carolina mountain trout, catfish, hand breaded flounder, and shrimp with a side of slaw.

Carolina FiberFest proudly celebrates its 5th year. Spinners and weavers will fill the Jim Graham Building for three days to showcase fabrics made from luxurious sheep's wool, alpaca, and more.
Carolina FiberFest is wonderful shopping experience as well as a learning venue for those interested in all aspects of fiber art –"from sheep to shawl".
Visitors from all over the U.S are delighted by the creative process of turning fibers into fiber art. From adorable animals to fleece, to yarn and finally a beautiful garment there is something to discover for everyone.

Prerequisites - Everyone should have made a few spools of beginner yarn and be able to operate their wheel without much worry.
Supplies - Must bring a wheel that you can operate.

10:00 – 4:00 Heritage Crochet Techniques –Rita de Maintenon
Supplies – Students should bring the yarn of their choice with matching hooks to practice, any hairpin, broomstick or large (#35 or #50) knitting needle, if available. Yarn and tools will be available to share during class.

10:00 to 1:00 Toe-Up or Top-Down: Custom fitting a heel-flap sock to any foot – Jane Bynum
Supplies – Students should bring their favorite sock needles, favorite sock yarn – enough for 2 socks, a pair of finished socks, pencil, paper, ruler, tape measure, piece of cardboard large enough to trace the student’s foot, electronic calculator.

Prerequisites - Must be able to knit, purl, cast on comfortably in either the long tail or knitted cast on method and bind off.
Supplies - Needles: Size 10 ½ (straight or circular), At least 3 bulky to super bulky weight yarns. One should be 400 yards, One at least 100 yards and the third can be as little as 50 yards. Have fun with colors and textures – you aren’t limited in this – bring more yarns if you want – or bring yarns to combine to get the weight. As long as you have enough yarn for the project – anything goes!!!

Classic Cars


Join us for some 50’s rock-n-roll, a swing’n sock hop and classic cars of all types and eras. The classic cars will be on display Friday afternoon and evening in Dorton Arena.

Harley Davidson Parade
On Saturday May 21st you can hear the rumbling heart beat of hundreds of Harley Davidson motorcycles arriving by police escort. The parade will be sponsored by Ray Price Harley Davidson. Check out these high powered machines up close and find out what your reflection looks like in high polished chrome. Motor cycles will be parked along the Sam Rand Grandstand fence.

Kid's Corral


The Kid's Corral will be at the AgriPlaza located between the Jim Graham Building and the NC Food and Wine Expo. This is the perfect place for families to relax and enjoy kid centered activities. Teach your kids about NC agricultural with “hands on” educational activities, arts and crafts. Don't worry; there will also be plenty of resting places for the parents too.

Antique Farm Equipment Exhibit is the largest antique farm equipment display in the Southeast with over 1,000 pieces of working equipment including hundreds of tractors representing almost any brand name you can imagine. There will be a daily tractor parade at 10:00 am each day. If you would like to bring your antique farm equipment, please register here.

Rides
The Festival features a full carnival with more than 23 rides for children and adults. Children’s rides require 2 or 3 tickets while adult rides take 3 to 5 tickets.
Tickets will be available for sale on-site. Single tickets cost $1.00. Save a little money and buy14 tickets for $12.00, or 30 tickets for $20.00. The merry-go-round and slides will feature free rides for an accompanying adult with a paid child ticket for children under 40" in height. In addition to the rides, a collection of games of skill will be available on a fee basis. Arm bands may be purchased at the ticket booth for $20.00. The arm band allows attendees to ride all day.
